Shelbyville Public Library houses a collection of 26,000 large and regular print books, 1030 videos, and 560 books on tape. DVDs and books on CD are currently being added to this collection. Subscriptions to magazines and newspapers total 85. Shelbyville newspapers on microfilm are available from 1876 to the present time.

As a member of the Rolling Prairie Library System, Shelbyville Public has access to 143 other library collections through the Local Library System Automation Project. Materials requested from these collections are delivered daily Monday through Friday. Our patrons are able to access this information online, order materials and manage their own library accounts. If the material a patron desires cannot be found in the database, a request for material may be made through library staff.
